Begin with a Python environment you control and the installation instructions in the LumiBot documentation. Run an existing example before adapting it. That separates setup issues from mistakes in a new strategy and gives you a result to compare against.

Choose whether you are running a historical backtest or connecting a broker for paper execution. Use a data source that supports your strategy's assets and dates. BotSpot also offers a browser-based way to build and test trading agents if you prefer to start without a local installation.

Where to begin.

  1. Follow the Python setup instructions and install the current LumiBot package.
  2. Run the documented example and inspect its logs, trades and generated report.
  3. Change one part of the strategy at a time and compare the next run with your starting point.
